
Shakeia McPherson
Special Projects Manager
Shakeia McPherson serves as the Special Projects Manager for The Staten Island Foundation. As the Special Projects Manager, Shakeia’s efforts are concentrated on initiatives, including the Diamond Matching Grant. This program is specifically designed to bolster the fundraising capacity of non-profit organizations across Staten Island, providing them with essential support to expand their services and enhance their impact. Through her work, Shakeia aims to empower these organizations, enabling them to thrive and serve the community more effectively.
A native and resident of Staten Island, Shakeia received her Bachelor’s degree from The College of Staten Island and a Master’s of Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Before joining the Foundation, Shakeia served in various leadership roles within education and the arts, including the Police Athletic League (PAL), partnerships with DOE schools, and community development programming. In her previous role as Program Officer for The Staten Island Foundation, Shakeia focused on fostering collaborative partnerships, assessing grant applications, connecting local organizations to resources, and ensuring that the community’s needs were effectively addressed. Each position has provided her with insight into the needs of families in neighborhoods across the borough of Staten Island.
