The Staten Island Foundation furthers its mission to improve the quality of life on Staten Island, particularly for the least advantaged, with a focus on improving education, health, community services, and the arts by engaging in a range of activities. We believe that improved quality of life for all Staten Islanders happens as a result of the work of committed community members, strong organizations, and collaboration around a shared vision.
We provide funding to nonprofits for direct service, capacity building, and, on a limited scale, for capital improvements. The Foundation also convenes stakeholders around issues, acts as a thought partner, and at times, partners with other funders. The Foundation tracks and shares data about Staten Island’s well-being and stays informed about community issues and needs.
