Fellowship Criteria:

  • Fellows must be currently residing in Staten Island.
  • Fellows should demonstrate a commitment to continuing their career on Staten Island.
  • Fellows should demonstrate an active interest in community engagement.
  • Fellows must be accepted into a social work program and may be part time or full time in either an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of applying.
  • Fellows must commit to a full academic year from Fall 2026 through Spring 2027.

  • Fellows must only apply if they have no other source paying for time spent completing internship hours such as a grant, paid work counting as internship hours etc.
  • Fellows must commit to being placed at a Staten Island non-profit organization with willingness to participate with the fellowship program and guidelines. Funding will be paid to the participating nonprofit internship site to pay the fellow. Funding will not be provided to the fellow directly.
  • Fellows must commit to learning sessions held monthly throughout the academic year and other events including but not limited to networking conferences, press releases etc.
  • Fellows must commit to submitting a final report and survey about their experience.

How to Apply:

The Staten Island Foundation invites social work students enrolled in an accredited social work program to submit applications for the 2026 Staten Island Foundation Elizabeth Dubovsky Fellowship in Social Work. The application launch and information on the deadline are soon to be announced.

It is anticipated that 2-4 fellows will be awarded for the 2026-2027 program year.
