At the February 27, 2018 Board Meeting, the Directors of The Staten Island Foundation approved grants to organizations seeking the following results:
Education
Increases in the number of pre K children meeting their developmental milestones
- Jewish Community Center of SI: $150,000—Early Childhood Expansion
- Eden II School for Autistic Children: $50,000—Early Childhood Expansion
Increases in the number of parents that are actively involved in supporting their child’s educational success
- Police Athletic League: $50,000—Expansion of Parent Engagement Model during Afterschool and Summer 2018
Arts & Culture
Improvements in effectiveness and efficiency of arts organizations that leads to their enhanced sustainability
- Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden: $50,000—Visitor Experience Capacity Building Initiative
- Nonprofit Finance Fund: $40,000—Business Model Planning for the Staten Island Museum
- Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre Company: $5,000—Building Capacity in Port Richmond
Health
Increases in number of residents that increase their level of daily physical activity and/or improve their diet with nutritious foods
- New York University: $10,000—Sustainable funding to address urgent health issues on Staten Island
Community Service
Increases in the number of Staten Island residents getting and keeping jobs at a level that meets their employment goals
- JobsFirstNYC: $50,000—Youth Workforce Initiative Network of Staten Island (WINS)
- Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation: $60,000–Developing Staten Island’s Talent Pipeline
