Allan Weissglass

Allan Weissglass, Chair and Founding Member of the Board of The Staten Island Foundation passed away on February 22, 2019. He was 84.

Allan served as a member of The Staten Island Foundation’s Board of Directors for over 20 years, and put his passion, expertise, and legendary network into service at key moments in the Foundation’s growth and development.

Allan served as inaugural Vice Chair at the Foundation’s inception in 1997 under founding Chair Harry P. Doherty and was elected to the role of Chair in 2008 upon Harry’s passing. He also served as Chair of the Finance Committee, stewarding the Foundation’s endowment to what it is today.

Throughout his tenure, Allan was a force on the Foundation’s Board. With his strong and steady leadership, warmth, and gracious good humor, Allan both demonstrated and encouraged all of us to bring our best selves to the work of the Foundation.
